Myrica esculenta

It is an evergreen tree, dioecious, grey bark with about 2-10m tall with about 40cm long trunk. Branchlets and buds are tomentose. Leaf blade narrowly elliptic-obovate or lanceolate-obovate to cuneate-obovate, adaxially dark green, rarely glandular, base cuneate, obtuse tip. Male inflorescence branched, erect or pendulous at apex. Male flowers without bracteoles. Stamens 3-7, anthers red, ellipsoid. Female inflorescence erect, many flowered, axiliary fascicles well spaced at maturity. Female flowers with 2 bracteoles, ciliate and golden glandular. Ovary velutinous, stigma 2, bright red . Drupes many per infructescence, red at maturity, usually ellipsoid and papilliferous. It is locally termed as Kaphal in Nepal found at an altitude of 1200-2300m. Ripen berries are edible. Local tribes mainly used it for making pickles and refreshing drinks. Schima wallichii

Schima wallichii is an evergreen tree, medium sized to large tree with a dense crown found at an altitude of 900-2100m . In Nepal, it is locally termed as Chilaune belongs to tea family Theaceae. It is a tree up to 10-20m tall. Young branches grayish brown, glabrous, densely white lenticellate, yellowish pubescent branchlets, longitudinally ribbed. Petiole 1-2cm, yellowish villous, leaf blade elliptic to broadly elliptic, leathery, abaxially pale green becoming brown when dry, adaxially dark green and glabrous, base broadly cuneate, margin entire, apex bluntly acute. Flowers axiliary, solitary or to 3 in a cluster, while 3-4 cm in diameter. Pedicel 1-1.5cm, grey pubescent, white lancellate. Sepal lunate to semiorbicular, 1.5-2*3-3.5 mm, outside glabrous or puberulent, margin ciliolate. Petals white, broadly obovate, apex rounded, apex rounded. Stamens 8-10, filaments adnate with petals. Myrsine of Nepal

Myrsine is a genus of flowering plant belongs to Myrsinaceae family. It contains about 200 species in the world. Among them, there are 3 species of Myrsine are found in Nepal: Myrsine semiserrata , Myrsine capitellata and Myrsine africana .  Myrsine semiserrata: It is a shrub to tree with 3-7m tall in height. Branchlets are slightly angular, 1.5-2mm in diameter. Leaf blade are elliptic to lanceolate, glossy, margin serrulate to middle, teeth callose, apex acute to acuminate. Inflorescence axiliary, umbellated or fascicled, ciliated, punctate. Flowers are white to yellowish around 2mm. Fruits are red with purple-black, globose and densely punctate. In Nepal, it is locally known as Kali Kath found at an altitude of 1200-2700m. Ripen fruits are edible and wood is used as timber as well firewood and leaves are used as fodder.
